Job Description
Reporting to the Operations Manager, 2nd Shift, the Engineering Lead provides leadership and direction to Engineering associates, including pre-shift work planning and delegation/assignment of work each shift. Additionally, the Engineering Lead is responsible for completing the work of an Engineering associate, assisting with inventory management by scanning, counting, stacking items onto skids/shelves, in a fast and accurate manner. Working collaboratively with the Operations Manager and Next Pick Lead, the Engineering Lead assists in ensuring that operations align with company-wide strategies and initiatives.

Responsibilities
• Prepare and communicate daily work plans and goals based on facility needs and backlog priority
• Complete all reporting required for pre and post shift and provide operational data from engineering processes
• Facilitate effective communication to associates in the department through daily huddles
• Safely and efficiently operate a forklift to manage inventory
• Stack product on shelves
• Count product to be stocked
• Key product into system using an RF scanner
• Moves product from overhead areas to stocking locations using a forklift or other PIT
• Responsible for following all safety rules, regulations and guidelines
• Ensure that operations are aligned and performed to achieve all 2nd shift key performance indicators including productivity, quality, and safety
• Assist, when needed, in managing the execution of all aspects of the Engineering, Replenishment, and Restock departments
• Monitor work processes to determine how current processes could be improved from a productivity, quality, or safety perspective
• Other duties as assigned

 

 

 

 

Job Requirements

Requirements
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1 year of related warehouse operations experience
• Prior leadership experience strongly preferred

Skills
• Proven ability to lead work teams successfully, while displaying core leadership skills
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills
• Forklift certified or become forklift certified and be able to retain certification
• Good problem-solving skills
• Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office and Outlook)
• Excellent time management skills
• Ability to create and maintain professional relationships with management, senior management, and corporate office personnel

Physical and Environmental Requirements
• Stand for long periods of time, up to 4 continuous hours and up to 8 – 12 hours during a shift
• Frequent walking through the department/building
• Use hands/arms to operate required equipment and repetitive motion activities
• Lift objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
• Communicate using speech, sight, and sound with or without assistive device
• Bend, stoop or crouch while performing daily activities of the job
• Operate power equipment
• Ability to work in a noisy environment
• Ability to work in an environment with fluctuating temperatures
• Willing and able to work in variable work locations
