Job Description

Serve as company agent in disputes between injured associates or customers and respective insurance companies. Responsible for financial reconciliation including reserves for assigned general ledger accounts. Coordinates insurance annual audits, providing necessary details and documents as needed.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement and administer risk management program which includes property and casualty, worker’s compensation and general liability insurance and financial and professional liability insurance.
  • Manage the claims process to include administration of claims database information, review independent medical evaluations, return to work status, provide wage statements, communicate with HR regarding modified job duty requirements, evaluate medical reports, communicate with stores, witnesses, preserve evidence, request surveillance, coordinate expert and attorney visits and questioning
  • Communicate with attorneys including providing discovery and answers to interrogatories, point of contact for arranging witness testimony, participate in hearings and depositions
  • Confer with General Counsel on legal matters related to risk management such as insurance contract negotiations and provisions, the preparation of cases for presentation at hearings and trials and the settlement of claims
  • Analyze accidents for trends to suggest and implement corrective action to avoid recurrence and improve operations
  • Reconcile business insurance accounts and maintain insurance reserves and premiums
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or similar program required
  • JD or Paralegal Certification a plus
  • Prior experience managing Worker’s Compensation claims and working in a Risk Management environment preferred

Preferred Skills

  • Experience settling legal disputes
  • Excellent negotiations skills
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS office, especially Excel.
  • Strong analytic and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
