Job Description

Processes bi-weekly payroll for all employees in three defined companies and remit all applicable payroll taxes to appropriate taxing authority. Respond to requests for manual payroll adjustments. Process year end W-2's for all associates. Set up direct deposit information and issue pay cards for new hires choosing this payment method. Reconcile all general ledger balance sheet accounts related to payroll taxes. Respond to tax notices from different taxing authorities. Submit any necessary check or wire requests for monthly payments. Process savings withdrawal requests. Respond to phone or email requests from current or former associates.


Role and Responsibilities

  • Process payroll by uploading applicable files to Lawson system, hand key authorized manual requests, balance PR reports, upload ACH file to bank, print paper checks and mail to stores, remit taxes in a timely manner, file any necessary reports and close payroll.
  • Annually balance withholdings for each taxing authority to printed or electronically uploaded W-2's. File all necessary year end reports. Print and mail W-2's to each employee.
  • Process pay cards for new hires by verifying and confirming active status and setting up direct deposits. Mail pay card to designated store.
  • Communicate with various taxing authorities regarding questions related to tax filings and/or payments.
  • Pull appropriate reports to compare each associate plan year (s) withholdings. Submit check request for refund and get VP Tax approval. Process checks, submit file to Treasury to upload to bank and close payroll.
  • Respond to current and former associate communications regarding pay, W-2 forms, address changes or other relevant requests.
  • Respond to and process garnishment requests as well as answer any questions regarding the garnishment process
  • Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • One to two years of similar experience processing large, multi-state payroll.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or similar area of study.
  • Lawson experience preferred.
