Job Description

The Project Manager will open all marketing projects and track from initiation through final execution, deliver materials to internal departments and external vendor partners, manage promotions for all printed pieces including in store and customer mailing campaigns. The Project Manager will work with all members of the Marketing team to promote company brands and ultimately help drive sales.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist with coordination of creative and production projects for Books-A-Million and 2nd & Charles retail stores, including in-store signage, digital communication, direct mail, and promotional & proprietary product processes.
  • Clearly articulate and communicate project scope and objectives, establish and meet deadlines, prioritize project workflow, and assist marketing team with estimates, PO's and white papers.
  • Manage and maintain good working relationships with outside vendors for specific projects.
  • Work closely with all members of the Marketing team in the planning and execution of advertising efforts primarily for 2nd & Charles brand with additional Books-A-Million projects as well.
  • Collaborate with members of other departments, such as Merchandising and Operations, on weekly directives and monthly in-store marketing initiatives.
  • Assist and support the Senior Director of Marketing in day-to-day  projects & tasks for BAM and 2NC brands.
  • Manage and maintain the Basecamp project management system for the marketing department and the merchandising department.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, or Communications is preferred
  • Two plus (2+) years of marketing experience, traffic management, productions, or project management preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Basic design software experience with Adobe Creative Suite is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is required.
  • Demonstrated time management skills, including the ability to meet or exceed deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and directly, bother verbally and in writing.
  • Solid proof reading skills.
  • Skilled multi-tasker that thrives in a fun, open, quick-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well, and quickly, with a variety of people.
  • Organizational master and process thinking required.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Must be able to sit at a computer or desk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to use hands/arms to operate keyboard, telephone and for repetitive motion activities.
  • Must be able to lift objects up to 25 lbs. with o without assistance.
  • Must be able to communicate using speech, sight, and soud with or without assistive device.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, stoop or crouch while performing daily activities of the job.
