Job Description

The Manager of Web Application Development is responsible for leading a team of Web Developers and for ensuring the alignment of team resources with business initiatives.  The Manager’s responsibilities include overseeing projects from conception to implementation (including all aspects of the company’s Software Development Life Cycle), designing and developing web architectures, and providing guidance on various technical issues.  This position manages local and remote employees plus onshore and offshore vendors and contractors.   The manager is responsible for leading and mentoring the team in developing and supporting both new and legacy, internal and external, web-based and mobile applications. 

 

The manager will possess strong communicate skills in order to interact with both business owners and other IT teams.  The manager will possess strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.  Experience with Agile Project Methodology preferred.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Designing and developing front-end and back-end web architecture.
  • Designing and developing databases.
  • Designing and developing mobile application and systems.
  • Developing and supporting projects from conception to implementation.
  • Working with Graphic Designers and Web Developers.
  • Creating user interactions on web pages.
  • Developing APIs.
  • Staying up to date with industry developments.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience as a web developer (in an Object-Oriented architecture and modern language). LAMP stack experience a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience as a hands-on development manager.
  • Experience in an e-commerce or brick-and-mortar retail organization preferred. Omnichannel implementation and experience a plus. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A creative thinker and problem solver.
  • Experience with version control (CVS, Perforce, Git) required. Experience with MySQL and Linux required.  Experience with Perl, PHP a plus.
