Job Description

Under the direction of the Manager, Technical Services, the Linux Systems Administrator is responsible for setting up, configuring and providing support for internal and/or external networks and systems. Other duties include developing and maintaining all security and network configurations and addressing network performance issues and security events.

  • Advanced Linux systems administration.
  • Basic Windows systems administration.
  • Reviews and analyzes daily security events and recommends technical response efforts.
  • Oversees and manages Active Directory, Group Policy, and Exchange administration.
  • Responsible for daily operational security checklist.
  • Security event analysis and response.
  • Performs upgrades to corporate systems and applies security patches as needed.
  • Maintains, updates, and monitors effectiveness of anti-virus and anti-spam software packages.
  • Monitor, propose recommended changes, and configure corporate firewalls.
  • Ensures the security of stored information and grants access to relevant users.
  • Creates backups of files and databases.
  • Provides companywide server maintenance, monitors security and performance profiles, recommends changes, performs troubleshooting as required, and performs upgrades or replacements.
  • Automates jobs and repetitive tasks via scripting and programming.
  • Provides general network support to internal users and in-scope vendors.
  • Installs equipment for new stores and relocations including network, server hardware, and general technology components.
  • Orders, maintains and disconnects network circuits and data lines (PPP, Frame)
  • Performs other duties as directed.


Job Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent GED required.
  • At least 5 years of prior related experience working in a similar environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Red Hat and Linux Foundations certifications a plus
  • Virtualization, Cloud, Orchestration
  • Gap and risk analysis
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to technical and non-technical users both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and follow technical manuals and technical directions.
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to interact with all end users in a professional and timely manner.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Must be able to sit at a computer or desk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to use hands/arms to operate keyboard, telephone and for repetitive motion activities.
  • Must be able to lift objects up to 25 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Must be able to communicate using speech, sight, and sound with or without assistive device.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, stoop or crouch while performing daily activities of the job.
