Books-A-Million is seeking an IT Infrastructure Manager in Birmingham, AL.

 

The IT Infrastructure Manager is responsible for overseeing both the technical and managerial aspects of the organization’s technical infrastructure and support.  This job is also responsible for planning, directing and designing the company’s IT infrastructure while simultaneously managing the team responsible for supporting and maintaining that infrastructure. The IT Infrastructure Manager will collaborate with colleagues in IT and business units to plan for future changes to the overall IT infrastructure.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop an IT infrastructure architecture strategy that addresses company's business needs, and establishes the approach for securely integrating information, applications and programs with the overall IT strategy
  • Develop an enterprise IT infrastructure services roadmaps and solution architecture to ensure service availability, scalability, IT service continuity
  • Lead a high performing team and provide technical leadership
  • Responsible for the design and documentation of infrastructure and connectivity between all sites and cloud infrastructure
  • Oversee the technical design of IT enterprise infrastructure including network (WAN, LAN, Wireless, SDWAN, switching, routing, VPNs, firewalls, etc.), Telecom (voice, collaboration, etc.), compute, storage, virtualization, database, directory, authentication, monitoring, identity, access and remote access services
  • Provide overall technical guidance and leadership in projects involving a variety of infrastructure technologies that supports business applications
  • Evaluate emerging technologies to ensure best of class tools are utilized and develop strategy for upgrade path
  • Educate and influence IT and business stakeholders to better understand existing infrastructure architecture risks, IT best practices, and infrastructure changes required to support business and IT strategies
  • Utilize best practices, structured approaches and architecture standards for evaluating, designing and implementing services/solutions to meet requirements for functionality, performance, security, etc.

 

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or related field

 

Experience:

  • 7+ years as a Lead IT Infrastructure architect including research, development and delivery of technical designs for Network, Telecom, Storage, Compute, Data, Security, and Applications services

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Professional or other Industry recognized technical education, certification or experience
  • Very strong interpersonal skills; able to build relationships and influence across the enterprise; ability to interact and effectively communicate at all levels of the organization, including C-Suite
  • Enterprise Security knowledge and experience implementing security solutions for enterprise infrastructure and developing systems and processes to ensure that infrastructure is compliant to Security standards and policies. Experience with PCI-DSS, CCPA or GDPR, and other government or industry regulations
  • Demonstrated strength in contract negotiations, vendor management, capacity planning and department budget management (including Opex and Capex responsibility) in a fast growth environment
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills that result in conclusive recommendations / decisions
