Job Description

Work with marketing team under direction of Creative Director to design and produce communication, promotional and marketing elements for the Books-A-Million brands.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute creative and production projects for Books-A-Million, 2nd & Charles, Joe Muggs, and Yogurt Mountain brands.
  • Design creative elements for in-house communication projects, directives and/or initiatives.
  • Prepare assets, creative, and files for print vendors in accordance to department and vendor specifications. This includes, but not limited to data entry and type setting, image manipulation and photo editing, art creation or modification.
  • Propose and present creative concept elements for various projects.
  • Gain knowledge and understanding of the retail industry.


Job Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Degree in Graphic Design, Marketing or Advertising preferred
  • Knowledge of various design applications required
  • Knowledge of printing, prepress, and digital output.

Preferred Skills

  • Must be proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and other design support software.
  • Should have a baseline competency in HTML, but is not required to have this.
  • Should have a strong competency in digital photography and image manipulation.
  • Should be highly competent in design thinking and problem solving.
  • Should have the ability to develop and execute a project from concept to completion.
  • Should be a skilled multi-tasker that thrives in a fun, open, quick-paced environment.
  • Ought to possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Should work effectively with a variety of people.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Must be able to sit at a computer or desk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to use hands/arms to operate keyboard, telephone and for repetitive motion activities.
  • Must be able to lift objects up to 25 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Must be able to communicate using speech, sight, and sound with or without assistive device.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, stoop or crouch while performing daily activities of the job.
