Job Description

Work with marketing and e-commerce teams under direction of Creative Director to design and produce communication, promotional and marketing elements for the Books-A-Million and Booksamillion.com.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute digital creative for email, website, interactive and social platforms for the Books-A-Million brands.
  • Design creative elements for in-house communication projects, directives and/or initiatives.
  • Design and execute a wide variety of email campaigns with understanding of A/B testing
  • Design promotion, marketing and campaign images for the website
  • Design new functions and implemented them onto the website
  • Design product/sale promotions for affiliate programs
  • Design social media posts that coincide with email campaigns
  • Analysis of information such as email statistics, open rates and heatmaps
  • Create author event emails in conjunction with collateral materials and promotional signage.
  • Prepare assets, creative, and files in accordance to departmental and vendor specifications. This includes data entry and type setting, image manipulation and photo editing, art creation or modification.
  • Propose and present creative concept elements for various projects.
  • Gain knowledge and understanding of the retail industry.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Degree in Graphic Design, Marketing or Advertising preferred
  • Knowledge of various design applications required
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS coding for email and website development

Preferred Skills

  • Must be proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, InVision and other design support software.
  • Should have a baseline competency in HTML.
  • Should be highly competent in design thinking and problem solving.
  • Should have the ability to develop and execute a project from concept to completion.
  • Should be a skilled multi-tasker that thrives in a fun, open, quick-paced environment.
  • Ought to possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Should work effectively with a variety of people

 

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Must be able to sit at a computer or desk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to use hands/arms to operate keyboard, telephone and for repetitive motion activities.
  • Must be able to lift objects up to 25 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Must be able to communicate using speech, sight, and sound with or without assistive device.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, stoop or crouch while performing daily activities of the job.
