Job Description

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations the Outbound Manager provides leadership and direction, working across multiple departments including Order Filling and Shipping. Additionally, the Outbound Manager works collaboratively with other areas of the business, including merchandising, finance, inventory control and warehouse operations to meet established business objectives. The Inbound manager is an important member of the AWBC leadership team.

  • Work collaboratively with Orderfilling and Shipping Managers, to provide leadership and direction, as assigned, for all aspects of Orderfilling and Shipping departments, providing effective leadership, planning, and achieving department Key Performance Indicators
  • Organize workflow to meet priorities, specifications and deadlines based on local operation and merchandising input
  • Lead, manage, coach and develop a team of associates working in Orderfilling and Shipping
  • Responsible for managing and meeting department goals, including UPH and CPU
  • Responsible for training and mentoring, and coaching/counseling performance and behavioral issues for OF/SHP Associates.
  • Review and approve timesheets daily
  • Schedule and assign work daily based on workload in OF/SHP
  • Review and communicate with outside vendors
  • Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly required meetings
  • Interview and hire candidates; Make recommendations for other actions in conjunctions with human recourses.
  • Provide daily department performance metrics and reporting
  • Maintains productive working relationships with all cross-functional areas
  • Champions communication and continuous improvement and best practices with all levels of the organization
  • Recruit and select talent for the department in conjunction with HR
  • Promotes safety culture within the department, managing any safety incidents and actively coaching associates
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 3 years of related experience in a warehouse environment, including leadership experience
  • A combination of education and experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree


  • Ability to manage individual associate performance and department productivity
  • Strategic thinker and planner, ability to critically evaluate work processes and develop solutions
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and be able to establish priorities and set high expectations
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle internal and external customers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced computer skills with knowledge of MS Office, Excel, Outlook
  • PIT Equipment certified or ability to become certified
  • Experience with AS/400 systems preferred
  • Ability to work variable and long hours, occasional weekends and 2nd shift activities as needed
  • Sit at a computer or desk for extended periods of time
    • Stand for long periods of time, up to 4 continuous hours and up to 8 – 12 hours during a shift
    • Frequent walking through the department/building
  • Use hands/arms to operate required equipment and repetitive motion activities
  • Lift objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
  • Communicate using speech, sight, and sound with or without assistive device
  • Bend, stoop or crouch while performing daily activities of the job
  • Operate power equipment
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment

Ability to work in an environment with fluctuating temperatures
