Job Description:  Reporting to the Operations Excellence Manager, the Operations Process Analyst is responsible for following intermediate quality principles and departmental procedures to track, analyze, and report on operational processes at American Wholesale Book Company. In addition, this role will be responsible for assisting and performing process improvement activities and projects to coordinate findings through quality tasks with operational improvement. The Operations Process Analyst will support the mission of the Operations Excellence department in improving operations and business processes at AWBC, using quality and lean principles.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Performance of all quality tasks based on the methodology created by management. Each task should be performed accurately and timely and results reported to the Operations Excellence Manager.
  • Lead in determining the root cause of errors identified during quality tasks which should lead to identifying opportunities for improving operational or business processes.
  • Creation of work papers, scorecards, and reports to management.
  • Lead and assist with the Order Filling quality program. This includes collecting and maintaining the integrity of all quality data perpetuated through this process.
  • At the discretion of the Operations Excellence Manager, support the Operations Excellence Manager in data analysis, project planning, and project execution. This includes the collection of critical cost and operational data, data analysis, process flow analysis, and presentation for process improvement purposes.
  • Communicate with and shadow other departments and end users to develop and maintain standard operating procedures.
  • Assist in developing presentations for monthly facility updates.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to management at the discretion of the Operations Excellence Manager.
  • Perform additional projects/tasks as requested by the Operations Excellence Manager.

  • High School Diploma

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, to effectively present findings to peers and management
  • Ability to work well with other team members on tasks or independently at the discretion of the Operations Excellence Manager
  • Knowledge of warehouse/department functions
  • Certified in Process Excellence or a Six Sigma related continuous improvement program preferred
  • A thorough knowledge in data organization, analysis, and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Intermediate mathematical skills
  • Intermediate statistical analysis skills
  • Basic knowledge of financial principles and calculations
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to create and maintain professional relationships with senior management, executive management, and corporate office personnel


Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Must be able to sit at a computer or desk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to use hands/arms to operate keyboard, telephone and for repetitive motion activities.
  • Must be able to lift objects up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Must be able to communicate using speech, sight, and sound with or without assistive device.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, stoop or crouch while performing daily activities of the job.
