Job Description

Under the direction of the Manager, Technical Services, the Network Engineer is responsible for setting up, configuring and providing support for internal and/or external networks and systems. Other duties include developing and maintaining all security and network configurations and addressing network performance issues.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Installs, maintains, and configures routers, switches, firewalls, and other network appliances from Citrix, Palo Alto, HPE, Adtran, Cisco, and Cradlepoint.
  • Designs, implements, and troubleshoots enterprise class secure WLAN solutions. Experience with Aruba Enterprise WLAN a plus.
  • Orders, maintains, and disconnects network circuits and data lines (T1, Cable, MetroE, MPLS, PPP, Frame).
  • Installs hardware and networking equipment, including installations for new stores and store relocations.
  • Performs analysis of business requirements and project specifications. Designs and scopes projects in a clear, concise, and accurate manner.
  • Coordinates project details to vendors, stakeholders, IT leadership, project managers, and site personnel.
  • Performs maintenance and upgrades to systems. Maintains anti-virus and anti-spam software packages.
  • Ensures the security of stored information and grants access to relevant users.
  • Provides general troubleshooting and network support. Configures and manages VPN.
  • Monitors systems to increase reliability and improve performance. Knowledge of best practices concerning management and monitoring of network infrastructure.
  • Manages enterprise systems backups and implements disaster recovery procedures.
  • Performs other duties as directed.
  • HyperV, VMware, Active Directory, Group Policy, Azure, o365, Exchange administration a plus.


Job Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent GED required.
  • At least 3-5 years of prior related experience working in a similar environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and follow technical manuals and technical directions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interact with all end users in a professional and timely manner.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Must be able to sit at a computer or desk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to use hands/arms to operate keyboard, telephone and for repetitive motion activities.
  • Must be able to lift objects up to 25 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Must be able to communicate using speech, sight, and sound with or without assistive device.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, stoop or crouch while performing daily activities of the job.
