Job Description

The Planner is responsible for working closely with the Buyers and other members of the Merchandising department to ensure that store planning objectives of maximizing sales potential for all stores is met by optimizing inventory levels. The Planner uses a variety of analytical and sales information to successfully complete the planning process.

Job Requirements

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Allocates and distributes basic and special product at sku level and manages the inventory level of the assortment based on the Buyer’s intent and allocation objectives
  • Ensures presentation standards by store are met for all promotional items, advertised items, placement items, displays and in general all areas of product placement within all stores
  • Review and optimization of all product distributions from all buys placed by the buyer for their area of responsibility, including but not limited to New Title buys
  • Participates in the monthly forecasting of sales, receipts and inventory levels
  • Ensures store planning objectives of maximizing the sales potential of all stores by optimizing inventory levels in all stores
  • Ensures planning for new stores is executed and product is distributed to the appropriate levels to achieve store sales and profit targets
  • Provides input to buyers on inventory levels and performance at sku level up to store level detail
  • Perform other tasks as directed

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or similar field of study required.
  • At least 3 or more years of related merchandise planning experience preferred

Preferred Skills

  • Intermediate or better MS Office products skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
  • Analytical skills, business planning skills and detail oriented

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Must be able to sit at a computer or desk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to use hands/arms to operate keyboard, telephone and for repetitive motion activities.
  • Must be able to lift objects up to 25 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Must be able to communicate using speech, sight, and sound with or without assistive device.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, stoop or crouch while performing daily activities of the job.
