The Marketing Operations Coordinator assists in marketing efforts for Books A Million and 2nd & Charles across traditional brick and mortar as well as digital platforms. The Marketing Operations Coordinator works as a member of a cross functional team across Creative Operations, Merchandising, Ecommerce, and Stores to track, coordinate and implement marketing deliverables such as advertising, social media, design, signage, email communication, websites, and events. Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing, the Marketing Operations Coordinator drives overall workflow efficiency by utilizing tools, measurement, and best practices to streamline and structure work processes.

Responsibilities

Management of Assigned Areas (85%)

  • Work with in-house marketing team under guidance of the Senior Director to assist in the production of advertising, communication, promotional and marketing elements across Books-A-Million and 2nd and Charles.
  • Assist in managing the logistics of store activations by sending marketing kits to and communicating with the stores.
  • Manage scheduling of social media across the BAM, Yogurt Mountain, and 2nd & Charles brands.
  • Provide support for display, paid search and paid social campaign execution including manage creative briefing process and assist in asset development.
  • Manage product sample requests to/from Merchandising, warehouse, vendors, and external resources to ensure all assets/samples needed are delivered and returned in a timely manner.
  • Aid in the development of author events across BAM and 2NC including communicating with the stores about various events, assigning a variety of creative tasks, and submitting proposals for different authors.
  • Ensure deliverables align with marketing strategy and seek approvals in collaboration with creative operations team.
  • Actively seek solutions as issues arise, alert management of any risks to schedules or deliverables.

Division and Cross Functional Projects (15%)

  • Special projects as assigned by the VP of Marketing or Senior Director of Marketing.
  • Provide support for ad hoc projects which may include customer and marketing analytics, loyalty programs, email, and digital channels.
  • Work collaboratively with cross departmental partners to provide support on larger scale company projects.
 

 

Job Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Business or business-related field or equivalent experience
  • 1-2 years of marketing operations experience at a retail/e-commerce organization or agency
  • Knowledge of project management tools and managing processes
  • Familiarity with store visual/signage development, events, and digital channels

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Good knowledge of creative directions and design best practices; the print industry and mailing regulations; developing and implementing communication and marketing plans, and project coordination.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Effective at problem solving and decision making
  • Calm demeanor under pressure and on tight deadlines
  • Positive can-do attitude, self-starter
  • Ability to generate, cultivate and maintain business relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders and demonstrate effective communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite required, Adobe Creative Suite Preferred

 

  •  Special Requirements:
    Up to 15% travel may be required for meetings, marketing, special events and store direction
