Books A Million is seeking a highly motivated, organized, and enthusiastic individual for a Fall 2022 paid internship in Marketing at our Birmingham Alabama headquarters. The Marketing intern will gain valuable, real-world experience across digital and brand marketing including ecommerce and social media as well as events and graphic design. Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing, the ideal candidate for this role will thrive in an ever-changing, fast- paced environment.  


  • Assist Marketing team in the execution and achievement of overall marketing plans aligned with brand standards.
  • Participate in a variety of Marketing initiatives across channels including print, email, SMS, paid search, and paid social and website marketing.
  • Assist the Social Media Team with influencer research, influencer communications, content creation, and tracking.
  • Conduct social media review on the Books A Million brand and research trending audio on Instagram and TikTok.
  • Support various marketing needs such as QR codes generation and creating social campaign URL links and links.
  • Communicate with internal and external partners on special events.
  • Assist stores with marketing as needed including Grand Opening events.
  • Coordinate site merchandisers, buyers, and creative to obtain marketing assets and assist with the final QA of these assets.
  • Respond to requests and communicate project status updates to key stakeholders.
  • Conduct competitive analysis to maintain awareness of consumer trends, technology, innovation, shopping behaviors and best practices.
  • Assist the team with other projects as directed.


Job Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

  • Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in an accredited college or university or a recent graduate.
  • Majoring in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Demonstrate an avid interest in and knowledge of books and pop culture as well as social media.


  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Positive can-do attitude, self-starter
  • Ability to multitask with excellent time management skills while working independently
  • Collaborate well with others, including external and internal team members
  • Knowledge and understanding of social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram and Facebook
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite required, Adobe Creative Suite Preferred

 Special Requirements:

  • Up to 15% travel may be required for meetings, marketing, special events and store direction
