Books-A-Million, Inc. headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, is looking for a Marketing Ecommerce Intern! We are the second largest chain of bookstores in the United States operating over 250 stores nationwide as well as online at Be a part of a winning company that has been in business for over 100 years while assisting, learning, and implementing Omni-Channel Marketing programs including Print, Email, SMS, Paid Search, and Paid Social marketing.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the Development and execution of marketing plans to achieve sales and margin goals set by department leadership.
  • Work across marketing, merchandising and creative departments to assist with the build out of our ecommerce holiday presence.
  • Aid with development and analysis of daily/weekly/monthly reporting and actionable next steps that will grow and optimize marketing campaigns.
  • Help drive and optimize key traffic and revenue metrics including Open Rates, CTR, engagement and retention.
  • Help monitor business performance and communicate assortment, promotional and allocation needs.
  • Conduct proofing and quality assurance across marketing platforms for the department.
  • Coordinate between site merchandisers, buyers, and creative to obtain marketing assets and assist with the final QA of these assets.
  • Conducts competitive analysis to maintain awareness of consumer trends, technology, innovation, shopping behaviors and best practices.
  • Respond to requests from various internal and external stakeholders for performance data.
  • Perform other ad hoc analysis and reporting as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned – the candidate will be cross trained in web analytics, customer analytics, marketing analytics, loyalty, email, and digital advertising and website merchandising.


Job Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

  • Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in an accredited college or university or a recent graduate.
  • Majoring in Business, Business Analytics, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Demonstrate an avid interest in and knowledge of books and pop culture as well as social media.


  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Positive can-do attitude, self-starter
  • Ability to multitask with excellent time management skills while working independently
  • Clear and accurately communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience and proven ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborate well with others, including external and internal team members
  • Knowledge and understanding of social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram and Facebook
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite required, particularly Excel
  • Familiarity with Photoshop, html and CSS coding a bonus.
